Directional microphone

What is a directional microphone?

A directional microphone is one that receives sound from one or more directions, depending on the model involved. In fact, all microphones can be thought of as having some orientation. However, directional microphones usually fall into one of two main types, omnidirectional microphones or more limited microphones.

Omnidirectional microphone is a microphone that picks up sound from all directions and it's a great universal microphone for use without having to distinguish the source of the sound. This type of microphone is very common in recording studios and even on stages where all sound is trying to capture. The microphone can also pick up ambient sound, which is what we want, depending on the type of recording or broadcast.

Heart-shaped microphones are designed to reduce ambient noise.

The microphone is a little selective in how it picks up sound and converts it into an electrical signal. This type of directional microphone picks up some sound from the side, but its best use is when the user is standing directly in front of the microphone. Sound from the side, although it may be received, is usually low and may not be heard clearly by other users. Therefore, this type of microphone may be suitable for use where noise from other directions is not required. This includes applications such as phone headsets.Like the heart-shaped microphone, the microphone's main function is to pick up sound from the front. It also picks up some sounds from the side, but it's more selective than a heart-shaped microphone. So it's a better option when outside voices aren't really needed.

Another type of microphone is a two-way microphone. This type of directional microphone works by picking up the sound directly in front of and behind it.
