new lavalier microphoneone

hey guys it's sam with the blind lifetoday we are testing out a new lavalier microphoneone that you can usepretty far away from the camera likethis i can't even see the camera fromthis far away i don't know why you wouldneed to record anything that's far awayfrom your camera but with this guy youcan so hang on we'll be right back andwe'll talk a little more about it[Music]this is the lensgo lw m3it is a lavalier microphone system justthis little guy right herekind of looks like a little alien itkind of looks like eve from wall-ebut it's a very simple one-buttonlavalier system and very flexible it hasone transmitter here that you can use byitself or with the provided lapelmicrophone like i have plugged on rightnowalso has a transmitter that plugs intothe camera this is compatible withcameras smartphones tablets computers sovery similar to the rode wireless gosystem if you're familiar with thatanother compact lavalier systemor verysimilar to the saramonic blink 500system which i have the problem with theblinksystem the saramonic blink 500 system isnumber one it's much larger much morebulky andthree times as expensive as this new lensgo system that i'mreviewing in this video here today soobviously all the sound that you'veheard so far in this video is comingfromthe 318c lavalier the lensgo lavaliersystem and here in a minute i'm going toswitch out for thesaramonic blink 500 and see how thatcompares audio quality compares to the lensgo and then i'll show some videofrom my outdoor test where i recordedthat little intro spoti also tested these two lavaliermicrophones outside in that environmentand we'll see how they compare there aswell first though real quickly i'll showyou what comes in the box with the lensgo system you actually get a lot ofstuffin the box you get one transceiver andone receiver both have magneticalligator style clips you also get anadhesive-backed metal clip that you canuse to attach to a tripod or somethingelse like that you get a trs cable forconnecting to a camera and a trrs cablefor connecting to a smartphone two microusb cables for charging you get alanyard for some reason i guess forwearing one of these around your neck ifyou're not able to clip it to yourclothing you get the lapel microphonewith a little wind protector you alsoget a little dead cat that can go ontothe transmitter for when you're notusing the lapel microphone and finallyyou get a bag drawstring bagregarding hardware there's a couplethings that i'm really liking about the lensgo systemoverthe saramonic system and mainly the sizeas you can see it's much smaller thanthe saramonicbut the one thing that i really reallylove about it is the way that it clipsonto your clothing so it has thesemagnetic clipsthat come off of the main body of theunit here and you can click them back onthis is really cool and also because ofthat it spins the clip will spin andi'll show you why that's really coolreally helpful here in a second when iclip this onto my clothingum butwith the saramonic with the blink andwith most of these systems your clip ispermanently attached to it all right nowi have the device by itself without thelapel microphone because it has a littlebuilt-in microphone here so you don'tneed to have the lapel microphoneattached to use the device that's areally great feature especially if youare kind of doing a run and gun shootwith and you're interviewing a bunch ofdifferent people you can just hand themthe device and not need to out running alapel mic up some clothing or clippingit on to their collar or anything likethatand then with this magneticclip uh this is what's really reallycool so like for example right now i'mwearing a sweatshirt and it's got areally high collarso i could clip it onto the collar uphere but it's going to be like under mybeard and it's going to be the beard isgoing to be hitting it and making allkinds of wrestling noiseso what i can do is put theclip underneath the clothingand then clip it right on therethe clip is underneath the clothing andthe magnet is strong enough that thedevicewill stay on there perfectly well veryvery secureand i can just sit here and talk likenormal and this is fantastic this issomething that you could not do with theblink now we're listening to the lensgo without the lavalier microphone how doesit sound is it better with the lapel micor without all right let's try thesaramonic okay now we are using thesaramonic blink 500 lapel lavaliermicrophone the exact same setup that wehad before with the lensgo we are usingthe lapel mic plugged into thesaramonic the basic operations of bothof these systems is exactly the sameeach one has a single button you longpress to turn it onthe transmitter and receiver are alreadypaired up so okay that is the blink 500with the lapel microphone how does thissound is it comparable is it does itsound three times as good as the lensgo because it's three times more expensiveall right now i have the saramonic blink500 running without the lapel microphoneand i'm gonna clip it onto my my shirthere butas i mentioned with the lensgo there's really no good way to clip itontoa shirt if you don't have a collar oranything um the best i can do is justkind of pinch some fabric and clip ittherebut as you can maybe see thethe device is actually the microphone ispointing towards the front of mei could kind of try to angle it up alittle bit towards myheadbut it doesn't pinch on as well therethat wayoh well so anyway this is the saramonicblink 500 without the lapel microphonehow does it sound in here i don't know iguess we'll wait and seeall right now we got the lensgo lavalier on i've got it in my pocket i'mrunning the lapel microphone right nownow i will say i couldn't get the littlewind protectorthe little foam piece onto the lapelmicrophone so it doesn't have a windprotector right now so there might besome wind noise being picked up i'msorry about that hopefully it's not toobad and you guys can still get an ideaof how well it soundsuh i'm backing up from the camera nownow i'm turning awayline of sight you guys can't seethe microphones cannot see each other soi'm walking away to see how well thatworksand now i'm turning back to the camerafacing the camerathat a little bit later i don't recallwhat it is right nowrecall what it is right now i'll showyou guys later um so you should still beable to hear me no problem probably gointo the street you still go to hear mepretty windy out here i'm imaginingthere's probably some some wind noise onthe microphoneumbut other than that how does it soundguysthis is the lensgo outside okay guys now we have the lensgo without the lapel microphone we justhave itclipped the unit clipped to my coat sohow does it sound now one thing i loveabout the way that this clips onyou see it's got the magnet so i canjust pull it off and then it's probablygonna be loud when i do this clip itright back onthe nice thing is i can also adjustwhich way this points so i can point themicrophone up towards me because itswivels on the clip now just a reminderthat for most of these if you don't usethe lapel microphoneuse that wind protection that the lapelmic hasbut that's not necessarily the case withthe lensgo because it comes with a separatewind protector a little tiny littlewhite dead cat i imagine for the blackmicrophone it's going to be black butlet me go ahead and put this on andwe'll see how that affects how thatchanges and affects noise all right nowi've got the windon there the little tiny dead cathow does that sound does itcut down the wind noise it should alittle bitlet me stand towards the wind here it'snot very windy right now uh but doesthat muffle voice at all i'm stilltalking at the same level i have beenthis whole time all right this is thesaramonic blink 500 i've got it on mymy coat here tapping it you can hear itthere is a pretty good breeze going andi'm like i don't know gosh i can't evensee the camera this far awaybut this is the flink 500 as i saidbefore it is much more expensive thanthe lensgo lavalier microphone threetimes as much almost three times as muchso does it sound three times betterthat is the question and i'm gonna walkaway so i'm still talkingout here there's trees over herethere's a building over therei don't really know what else abouti just want you guys tosee it cuts out at all and now i'mturning back towards the camerayou should still be able to hear me ithink it can doa lot further than thisbut like i said before i don't know whyanybody would want to record anythingfurther than this from the camera okaynow we have the blink 500 without thelavalier microphone attachment plug iguess you could say it is justby itself um so these have the built-inmicrophones it doesn't havethe any kind of wind resistance as thewind picks up how does that sound is itletting a lot of wind noise inall right guys we are back in the studioi've listened to the audio clips andi've got my final thoughts on the lensgo 318cuh number one as far as hardware i lovethe hardware i think it's fantastici love the smallminimaldesignthetransmitter and the receiver areidentical as far as designwhich could be an issue for some lowvision usersjusttrying to determine them by feeling bytouchalthough i will say that thereceiver only has onehole i guess portat the top here that is for the cable toconnect it to the camera or the phonethe transmitter has twowell it's one port and a speakerso there's two holes at the topso that's probably the only wayliterally that is the only way you'regoing to be able to tell them apart isby feeling those different holes at thetop therewhich you can do it is really simple tobe like okay that one has one that onehas two so this is thetransmitter and this is the receiver soyou can do that by just by feel noproblem probably the thing i love themost is the clipsystem here with the magnetsuh being able toclip this onto my clothing and thenput this on and take it off whenever ineed toi love that and then also being able toput this underneath your clothing andclipmagnetically through the clothingin case your self or your talentisn't wearing a shirt with a collar oror a jacket or anything like that umthat gives you an option for that and ithink that's great and then with all ofthese new microphones i love the factthat you can they give you a trrs cableso you can use it with smartphonessome of the older onesthe rode video micro the rode go the mysaramonic they didn't come with the trrscablesit works if you have one but it didn'tcome with one automaticallyi also like the little wind dead cat alittle wind muff my only complaint isthat it falls off too easily it's justheld on by frictionand it's not the easiest thing to get onthere all the way down and it can justpop right offin fact when i was testing it outside itdid pop off right away and i didn'trealize it okay now i've got it on andwe'll seeis that any better less wind noise it'snot very windy right now we'll see if itpicks up oh it already fell off dang it[Music]now let's get to audio qualitythe saramonic blink 500 it seemed tohave a little bit lowertone a little bit warmer tone to it thanthe lensgo the lensgo was louder now being alittle bit louder it may come off alittle bit more tinny or a little bitthinuh not as warm and not enough bassthe main issue and i know you guys heardit is the audio cutting out every nowand then getting that strange roboticsound every now and then here's a quickexampleuh but does that muffle voice at all i'mstill talking at the same level i havebeen this whole timenow obviously it happened a lot when iwas turned away from the camera andthat's to be expected most of thesesystems rely on line of sight it worksmuch better if the transmitter is facingthe receiverbutit continued to happen over and overagain it seemed to be worse when i wasjust using the transmitter by itselfbut even still when i was using thelapel microphone i could still hear itevery now and then uh it happenedindoors and outdoors it happened morewhen i was further away from the cameraobviously but even close up even withinbetween five and ten feet from thecamera it was happening uh which is kindof not a good thing that's kind ofunacceptable really i didn't have anyissues like that with the saramonic i'venever had any issues like that with thesaramonic so that's kind of a bummer ireally wish this had performed a littlebit betterbecause of the price number one as isaid before it's it's three timescheaper almost three times cheaper thanthe saramonic uh i think this is rightaround fifty dollars the saramonic'slike 150. and i love the design and ilove the clipping system and all of thatso i justi wish this had performed better okayguys i hope you enjoyed that uh if youwould like to get more information aboutthe lens lensgo wireless lavalier system here i willhave links in the description down belowas well as the amazon link for where toget it as always
