wireless microphone system this

hi guys in this video i'm going toreview yet anothercompact wireless microphone system this one is from lensgo[Music]so like i said it's another one of thesesystems that came outuh and if you've been following meonline uh over the last couple of weeksyou've seen that i've kind of reviewedyou know a lot of these already verysimilar each one has slight littledifferencesthe first original one of its kind ofthese sort of compact wirelessmicrophones was from rode and then nowrecently the latest one they released issort of like this updated version whichis a dual systemmeaning two transmitters one receiverthis one from lensco is identical setupso you have two of these transmittersone of them uh here i have mountedalready as you can see on my t-shirtand the audio that you guys are hearingis actually coming in fromfrom this microphone and for those ofyou who don't know about these systemsbasically they're like aall-in-one sort of a unit meaning youhave a little transmitterand in it you have a built-in microphonecapsulebut you also have a microphone jack solike a three and a half millimetermicrophone jack so you can plug inany level your microphone that you canget out thereuh and the transmitters themselves asyou can see they're pretty nice smallabout the same size as all the othersort of similar unitsthey're i would say they're maybe insize verysimilar to the rode wireless go-to butthey are a bit heavier you candefinitely feel it and you can see it'ssort ofuh or when you look at this microphonehere it's kind of when it's mounted it'sit kind of pulls on my shirt a littlebit more uh other than that you haveuh here on the side you have a littlepower button whichallows you to as you can see when ipress it it's flashing and that meansthat it'smuted so allows your talent to basicallymute or unmute thisthemselves um and then here on the sideyou havea usbc connection for charging theinternal batteries the batteries i don'treally know what they're rated atbecause i couldn't find any info and sofar i've only used this for a couple ofdaysand i've never run out of batteries so ii think i would i was on average i kindof had it on for about five hoursand um and it's you know it worked soi'm guessing maybe six seven hoursit can last uh there's also a micro sdcard connection herebecause you can plug in a micro sd cardand the cool thing about this is thatit's sort of in that way it's similar tothe latestrode wireless go to is that in you canhave internal recording so you put inthe cardand then once you have a card and youhave a record button here on the frontand you can turn it on by basicallypressing and holding it when you pressand hold itfor i believe it's three seconds uh yepthen you seeit starts flashing and that means thatit's actually internally now recordingto thatuh sd card uh so this is sort of a nicefeature becauseit allows you to have a backup recordingin caselet's say your talent goes too far orthere's some kind of object in the waythat's causing interference uh well thenif you unless you're doing this livewhich in that case this wouldn't helpyou but if you're doing this for examplelike you're gonna editall this footage later on uh and let'ssay something happens where the audiothat was you know being received on theon the camera and or the audio recorderwas getting some interference well youcan always go back and get the originalrecordings in each of thesetransmitters so it's a nice thing tohave now the difference obviously isthatthe rolled wireless go 2 system has abuilt-in memory card this one you got toput in your own memory card soyou can say it's better or worse somepeople prefer to be able to change thememory card so they canquickly take it out let's say give it tosomebody so they can work with thatfootage instead of having to give themthe whole unituh but at the same time you have to makesure you buy your own memory cardwith the rode wireless go you can'treally take it out you have to plug itinto a computer and you have to offloadthe footagebut at the same time you don't need tobuy anything extrabut that's basically how thetransmitters work and other than thatthey're pretty simplenow on the back you'll notice there isno mount it does come actually with thelittle clip-on mountwhich is again identical to like all theother systems which is going to fit on aculture or hot shoe mountso let's say if you're on top of yourcamera or something and the same thingis actually on the back of thetransmitter so you also have one ofthese uh now you'll noticethis is kind of a cool idea but it'ssomething i'll tell you have to becareful with is that this little clip-onis actually magnetically connects hereto the back sohere on the back of the unit you'llnotice that like a little openingand you put it in there the magnet ispretty strongnow i never had this actually detachedbecause like i said the magnetfeels pretty strong but uhit does because of that it kind of likeyou see it can rotate pretty freely inthat caseso you have to be careful about that soit kind of doesn't shift around andwhen walking around with it sometimes ifelt like like for example if i were totrip or somethingit could you know or let's say if i hadsome piece of clothing like let's see ifthis was hidden under a few layers ofclothesi think this could potentially detach ifsomething snagged on it and i couldyou know kind of pull away so somethingto be aware ofoh another quick thing you'll notice ison the back here you also havethese two here connections these areactually for chargingthe internal battery when this thing isinside its case and that's because thiswhole unit comes with alike a basically you could say a travelcase uh that's also going to protect itand it's also going to be good forcharging you have uh here you can openitand when you press the button you canopen it as you can see you have spacefortwo of your transmitters uh yourreceiver also all the cables they giveyou to give you a usbc cableuh they give you a trsconnection and a trrs connection formobile phones and things like thatyou also get one of these little thingswhich are basicallyuh so that you can place it here let'ssay where theuh where the magnetic connection is solet's say if you wanted touh glue this because it has basicallylike a sticky here on the backyou can basically let's say i guess thethe receiver you could glue it tosomewhere to your camera rig orsomething like thatso just something to be aware of thatyou can you can mount it that wayand then like i said you can close itnow when this thing isactually in its case then the caseitselfwill be able to charge it and that'sbecause here you would then plug inusing one usbc connection and now you'llbe able tocharge all three of these basically thatthetwo transmitters and one receiver that'ssomething too nice toto have another thing you'll notice isthat it comes with a little furry thinguh and i actually like how they kind ofsolve this becausewith the original rode wireless uhthe problem i had and many people had isthat uh basically the the wind muffwouldtend to fall off uh and then also inoticed that with some of the otherunits you knowthe they had sort of similar problemswith that or they just simply didn'tprovide anywindscreen protection uh the latest roadwireless go actually has a you knowreally nice solution withsort of a twist connection this is sortof similar a bit bigger but it gives youthis little bit of it like a windscreenthat's attached to this kind of a frameuh this plastic frame and you just sortof slide it over itand you just click it in there andthat's it you can see it now attachedand it's actually very sturdy under soyou have to like lift this tab hereon the side to take it out and yeahthat's it now as you can see thereceiver is very similarin size and kind of the design as thetransmitterswith the key difference being is thatyou have this led screen on the frontand that allows you to see which modeyou're in and that's because you canswitch between stereo and mono mode youcan also adjustthe level here so you can see theoverall leveluh for your your microphones and that ifyou want to change betweenposterior mono you just press these twobuttons here on the topand hold them and you'll be able toswitch between thatas you can see right now we're in monomode uh and then again if you want toswitch back to stereopress and and then you switch it andthat justbasically means that you can eitheroutput uh the same basicallyboth of these microphones kind of youknow mixed down to onemono signal and it's going to output onboth left and right channels or you canhavethese or be separated on the left andright channels if you're inin stereo mode uh you also have yourlittle leds here on the top that kind ofshow youuh whether you're paired and how muchbattery you have if this startsflashing red just like on thetransmitters that means you're runninglow on the batteryuh here on the top you have yourconnection a three and a half millimeterjack connection so you can connect thatto your camera or your recorderand then here you have your usbcconnection for charging the internalbatteriesand your power button so like i saidkind of a cool you know littleunit has a lot of similarities to thenewroad wireless go to is that in you knowit has the internal recordings has twounitsconnecting to one receiver uh it'salso nice compact small maybe not assmall as the road wireless go to butbut pretty decent in that size um nowthere isanother difference and that's the actualworking range so the working range onthis unitis 70 meters around 230 feetwhich is basically around half the thethe length that you're going to get withthe worldwide let's go toby the way if you haven't seen my reviewof that and my testing of the longwireless range in that system then checkit outuh the link is in the description ofthis video andnow let's go outside and maybe test thelong range capability of this systemand as always i've got my number onefavorite model heremy wife christian i'm backi'm back all right she's always back allright let's let's go i'm always hereyeahso now we're around 100 feet away fromthe camera around 30 meters which isactually in the manual for the system uhmanufacturer says this is like theoptimalworking distance now the max distancelike i said it was uh 200 feetuh or 230 feet or around 70 meters soum here well this is how i soundyeah i have to say something for thevideopeople can hear you very beautiful voiceand see if this mic works yeah there isit'sactually a little bit windy here likeevery someone little gust of wind comesthrough and we have thelittle windscreen so hopefully againthat you know you know you're nothearing too much of the wind noiseanyways let's head back all right let'skeep going now i and right now i'm withmy back to the camera so the signals youknow notline of sight but we do have objectsaround us like these cars treesand those usually help bounce some backso i'm curious to seehere all right and now uh we're around200 feet away from the camera again thisis how i sound and this is how i soundand what do you think um i think youshould you guys shouldhear us clearly we're not that far fromthe camera so i mean they're allrelatively speaking i mean normally iwouldn't be recording an interview thatfar from the thing butwell yeah but i imagine you're going touse it for when you need touse it for a particular scene where youcan't be that closeyeah well usually at least i never haveto have a camera that faror when a reporter has to go reallyclose to something and the cameraman hasto stay behindmaybe yeah so again this is not the maxadvertised working distance we're gonnago now a little bit furtherup to 230 feet all right let's goall right so right now we're around 230feet away or the maxadvertised working range uh we have somecars sohopefully it doesn't block our line ofsight uh-huh we don't know what he'strying to doand hopefully it works well maybe he'strying to go around usall right let me let's move out of thewayoh okay uhall right so it looks like he's he'sjust parking anyway so this is how isoundand this is how i sound and again we'reat the max advertised working rangearound 230 feet away and just for thehell of it i decided to goall the way to 300 feet so we passed theofficial working rangeyep because i'm just curious to see formyself is it actually going to work inopen line of signat least what do you think well we'llsee because we've tried somethat we've gone even further so i don'tsee why this one shouldn't work but thenagain you said the people that made itonly says until two two hundred thirtyfeet or seventy meters sowe'll see i mean the one system that wetried out we could go really far thatwas the road one that so fari think it's the best one i've testedbut all right we'll see if this onecompares to that one yep all right okaylet's go back beepster weavestersuch a good doggie good job phoebegood job good girl me you juicegood girl yeah you did such a good jobyou're guarding the cameragood girl me rudy so that nobody stealsour camera yeahso hopefully that gives you guys a goodidea of what you can expect when usingthis wireless microphoneon a longer range now you should beaware thatall these systems they they use 2.4gigahertz frequencies it's the same as alocal wi-fi networks so if you have alot of these in the area or if you haveother wireless signal interferenceit can drastically catch your your rangealsokeep in mind that let's see if you're ina completely open area withmaybe nothing you know no objects andkind of blocking the line of sightbut there's also no other buildings orobjects basically that can bounce thesignal thenuh your your signal is not going tobasicallywork as well when you have something inthe in the way like let's say if youhave your talentturned with their back to the camera andthe transmitter let's say isyou know mounted like i have right hereand it has to basically go through thebodybecause if there's no other objects tobounce the signal then it's gonnathe performance of these and any ofthese basically wireless microphonesystems is gonna begreatly reduced but in the end i thinkit's it's always good to seeanother company kind of coming into themarket and providing some competitionuh you know different price rangeoptions and just different options ingeneraluh for for us uh customers so againif you're looking for a compact wirelessmicrophone systemthere's a lot of these now on the marketthis is the latest editionand i will be now doing i know i've beensaying that in the last few videos butnow i'm kind of done reviewing theselittle unit systems and i'm just goingto take and sort of do an overallcomparison video including this oneand the latest one from road which isalso the company that kind of startedthe trend with theseand i'm going to sort of review all ofthese units and kind of talk aboutyou know which i think is the best dealuh has the best features and things likethatso stay tuned for that video uh asalways you can find out more about thatvideo or any other videos that i've doneand gear reviews and filmmakingtutorials on my website attomantosfilms.comwhile you're there don't forget tosubscribe to my newsletterand otherwise i'll see you guys in thenext video bye
